 MHS Alumni, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. EIN Number: 92-1940048
This organization was put in place to help increase the number of scholarship opportunities for current/graduating Marietta High School students to further their education at a Trade school or at a four-year institution. All funds and donations will be for those scholarship opportunities.

Meet the Board

  • Lynette Welch Kirk

    President

    Lynette Welch Kirk, President, is a 1971 graduate of Marietta High School. After completing a Bachelors and two Masters, Lynette enjoyed a career in Education at the Secondary and Higher Education levels in the classroom and as an administrator. She was greatly influenced and inspired by MHS teachers, Helen Jo Banks and Virginia King and followed in their footsteps by teaching English, Speech, and Theatre Arts for many years. The greatest source of joy is her family, son and daughter-in-law, John and Sara Kirk, grandchildren John, Hunter, and Rhonni, and her great grandsons, Troy and Elliott. She is “mostly retired” now and has enjoyed working with the MHS Alumni, INC. tremendously.

  • Ella Keeton

    Vice-President

    Ella Keeton, Vice President, graduated from Marietta High School in 1973. Her maiden name is Ella McKinney. She attended East Central University receiving a BS degree in Education and spent the first 33 years teaching First Grade in Oklahoma. She then spent the next 11 years in Texas teaching children who were dyslexic. Ella is now working back in Oklahoma with children who are struggling with reading. This year begins her 47th year of teaching. She loves working and helping struggling readers.

    Ella married Randy Keeton, and they were married 26 years before he died from complications from cancer. They have two boys, Ryan and Cody Keeton. Ryan teaches Math at Marietta High School along with coaching football and soccer. Cody lives and works in Frisco, Texas and is married to Lauren who is also a teacher.

  • Richard Cochran (Rick)

    Treasurer

    Richard A. Cochran, Jr. (“Rick”) graduated from Marietta High School in 1970. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1974 and his Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1977. He has served as Associate Counsel for the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety and as Assistant District Attorney for Carter County, Oklahoma. He currently is in private practice in Marietta, and also serves as the City Attorney for Marietta.

  • Kermit McKinney

    Secretary

    Kermit McKinney, Secretary, was born in Stillwater, OK, while his dad, Thomas McKinney, attended OSU. He attended Marietta school system from fourth grade to senior year, graduating in 1970. After high school, Kermit attended the University of Oklahoma obtaining a Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering. After college, he worked for Kerr-McGee for a total of 22 yrs. living as far north as Williston, ND and as far south as Morgan City, LA. In 1999 Kermit took early retirement from Kerr-McGee mainly to get away from Houston, TX, and moved back to Marietta. Since living back in Marietta, Kermit is currently working for himself at Chaston Oil & Gas, LLC. He served as Boy Scout’s Scoutmaster of Troop 32 for 16 yrs., and as Superintendent of Love County Jr. Livestock Show for 19 yrs. He is currently serving on Marietta’s City Council for the last 9 yrs., as Trustee of Marietta First Baptist Church, as President of the Love County Fair Board, and finally now serving as Secretary of the Marietta All Class Reunion organization. Kermit is a good Boy Scout serving his duties to God and Country. As far as the duties to himself, he is married to Jeffna McKinney, has one son Chase McKinney, a daughter-in law Seana Coker, and one grandson Matthew Cooper McKinney. He considers himself blessed and thanks God.
